Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

At Moorhead Baptist Church, we believe the Bible should be the final authority for all our faith and practice as believers. We endeavor to "observe to do" the instructions contained within Its pages.

The Bible- We believe the Bible is the plenary, verbally inspired Word of God. We believe the King James Bible is the inerrant, preserved Word of God for English speaking people.

The Trinity- We believe that there is one God and that He is triune in nature consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Salvation- We believe that because Adam ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, he became accountable for his sin and worthy of eternal death in the Lake of Fire. We believe that all descendants of Adam also become aware of good and evil (the age of accountability). At that point they become accountable for their personal sin, and therefore, are deserving of eternity in the Lake of Fire.

We believe that God, recognizing the lost condition of mankind, loved us so much that He sent Jesus, His only begotten Son, to be born of a virgin, to live a perfect sinless life on earth, to lay down that perfect life in our place on Calvary, to be buried, and to rise again, providing a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins.

We believe that God has given man a free will and will not force this salvation upon any of us. Instead, each of us, individually, realizing we are sinners and deserving of eternal punishment in Hell and recognizing that Jesus paid that price for us, must make a willful, one-time decision to receive Christ as our personal Savior or, as the Bible calls it, be "Born Again."

.

Eternal Security- We believe once an individual truly and sincerely puts their faith in Christ alone for salvation, their sins (past, present and future) are forgiven, their name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life, and they can never lose their salvation.

Baptism- We believe that after salvation, every believer should follow the Lord Jesus in baptism by immersion. We believe that baptism identifies us with Christ and affords us an opportunity to confess Him before men. We do not believe that baptism has any spiritually regenerative powers but rather is symbolic.

Church Membership- We believe that every Christian should endeavor to join himself to a local assembly of believers for edification and in obedience to God's command. We believe only saved and baptized persons can be members of a local church. We believe the New Testament church is autonomous, local, and visible.

Separation- We believe that every Christian should strive to live a life separated from the world and unto God. We believe that worldly and fleshly appetites are hindrances in the Christian life, and that such hindrances should be avoided.

Soul- winning- We believe that every Christian is commanded to regularly, faithfully, and consistently strive to get the Gospel out to others through living a separated life, acts of kindness, and speaking to the lost about their salvation.

Family- We believe that the home is ordained by God. We believe that marriage is a holy commitment before God between a man and a woman. We believe that strong Christian homes are the foundation to strong local churches and to civil society as well.

The Second Coming- We believe that Jesus is coming again in the future to reign on the earth. We believe that His Second Coming will be preceded by a "Rapture" of His people and a "Tribulation" period. We believe that His Second Coming will be followed by a "Millennial" reign of Christ on earth.

Eternity- We believe that those who have put their faith in Christ for forgiveness of sins will spend eternity with God in what is traditionally referred to as Heaven. We believe that those who die in their sins without Christ will spend eternity suffering in the Lake of Fire.
